Along with thirty rising third to fifth graders from Natural Bridge Elementary School, Community Well held a special 45-minute herbalism workshop on June 2, 2025. The program was designed to introduce children to the healing and calming powers of plants through sensory engagement with tea. See photo documentation here.
About the School
Natural Bridge Elementary, located in a rural part of Rockbridge County, Virginia, serves a vibrant and resilient community. 38% of students at the school have at least one parent incarcerated, making programs that promote wellness and emotional regulation especially valuable.
Topics Covered
Students explored three common, yet often unfamiliar for the children, herbs—mint, chamomile, and lemon balm—learning both historical uses and modern-day benefits.
For a community where many children face unique emotional challenges, this small but powerful connection to nature can bring a moment of peace—and a lasting impact.
